Here are the photos I took the other day. This is the final layout. Here are 2 photos of the Dark Shadows - one with flash the other without - does anyone have any suggestions for taking good quality photos without reflections? Dark Shadows hanging from ceiling Final location of Lighter Spirits

I'm a day or 2 behind updating my blog, I've put photos in my yahoo album, and unfortunately haven't had a chance yet to resize and move them over. So if anyone is interested in seeing where Pandy progress - she has her own album which you can see by clicking on the Subject of this message. The batting arrived yesterday from eQuilter - I was thrilled to have it delivered in only 4 days! But now that means I need to figure out how I want to quilt this! Keep your fingers crossed! :-D eirdre

I am being totally lazy - playing on the web, doing laundry, getting my cholesterol checked, etc. The trip to the doctors left a huge bruise on my arm (not my right arm, but hey I'm milking the injury
I set up the tripod today to take a photo of Pandora and figured I'd sneak in for a quick photo. If you look closely you can see my naked studio guest (on the chair). He is always napping, lazier than me! LOL

I wish that taking photos of this quilt were better at showing what it actually looks like. The reflection and color change is very hard to photograph. Maybe when I am really ready to take final photos the tulle will help with the reflections. Today I worked on the faces. All the old ones were discarded (too heavy) and I started making lighter ones. I think I will end up needing to use tracing paper to get the final placement and direction, so that they look like they are pulling off from the stuff escaping the box. I also am trying to decide if I want to add a heavier spirit, which sinks to the bottom. I like the way the dark face looks against dress.

I feel like this is almost the home stretch - I've had a few ideas and tried some more - most were flops. But here are 2 shots of lighter spirits. The faces are only there to show the wing colors, they will be redone. I can't decide on darker stuff at the bottom yet, so maybe I'll add more and see how it looks.

My self-portrait has been finished for almost a month - but finally I got to the quilting and binding part. I also did a little lipo on my jaw line. A project sitting on the WIP pile for a little bit longer - OVER A YEAR - if you are keeping close track, is my Green Fairy. Basically she has had a face since November 03! Her body, arms, wings, hair, etc were added last summer/fall. Then I got sidetracked. I'm really happy with the quilting and the wool roving for hair - my plan was to felt it into her head after the piece was quilted but it was a nightmare getting the felting needle through the fusible. I figured done is better than bleeding all over it - those felting needles are very sharp! Here is her closeup. The only thing left - will get to it this evening if I am lucky - is the binding - and to sew down the dragonfly. Now I can get back to Pandora!

Sitting here at 4:30 in my PJ's is not normal for me. But I feel like I've accomplished something so I'm not all that upset. This morning after many mugs of coffee, I started working on the box again. It took a couple of tries before the opening seemed ok, but I am very happy with the way it looks now. Then after a quick snack break, I came back to work on the stuff coming out of the box. The wisps closest to her head seemed heavy (and they photograph terribly!), so I redid them a little at a time. In person they look better than they do here but I'm hoping with more time and a tripod I can get some photos with less reflection. I've also redone the faces and all in all I'm very happy with the results. To attach these will be interesting - but I think if I cover everything with silver/grey bridal illusion and sew over it with gold and silver thread - that might work - of course I'm sure I will chicken out and just sew it down with invisible.

Today's work involved taking out millions of stitches - teeny tiny ones - oh and did I mention they were in pre-quilted velvet? If I wasn't so cheap I would have just resewn the darn thing. But... after struggling to open up the bottom edge, I was happy with the shape of the box. The shadows of the box still need angle adjustments but I'm very pleased with the feeling of this section. Here is a close up and full view. Please click for enlarged images.
